
Kathy Williamson
Vice-Chair, The Emmada Institute of Behavioral Health and Wellness
Kathy Williamson is a leader dedicated to serving the greater Los Angeles community. Her decades of advocacy and activism include a passion for civil rights, justice and empowering underrepresented and disenfranchised populations.
Kathy is an award-winning journalist, and was the Managing Editor at the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper and Editor-in-Chief at OurWeekly. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists – Los Angeles Chapter.
She is a naturopathic doctor and small business advocate. “Dr. Kathy” owned two successful medical/chiropractic/holistic clinics. She has worked with the Association of Black Women Entrepreneurs and the Los Angeles Black Business Expo. She co-founded Black Writers on Tour.
Kathy provides board leadership to a number of local organizations and non-profits. She serves as West Coast Vice President for the African American Film Critics Association; Commissioner, U.S. Selective Service; advisory board member for youth and community non-profits; a member of the National Council of Negro Women – View Park Chapter; and as an advisory board member for the African American Firefighter Museum. Her dedication to the historic Watts Summer Festival spans decades.
She is the proud single mother of an adult daughter who is a mental health clinician.
